In the world of aromatherapy, CBD aroma oils are becoming increasingly important. But what exactly does this term mean?

Essentially, aromatic oils are essential oils that are used in aromatherapy to increase one's sense of well-being via the sense of smell or the skin.

In addition to traditional ingredients such as manuka, rosemary, tea tree and sage, CBD, one of the best-known cannabinoids from the hemp plant, is being used more and more frequently.

Unlike THC, CBD does not cause intoxicating effects and is not addictive.

Why shouldn't you take CBD aromatic oils orally?

CBD flavoring products are subject to strict legal regulations, including mandatory labeling that states they are not suitable for consumption. As a result, many products are declared as aromatic oils in order to circumvent the legal requirements and avoid bureaucratic hurdles.

The regulation of CBD products in Germany includes, among other things, that they must not exceed a THC content of 0.2%.

The challenges of registering CBD products

Although CBD is legal in Germany, products containing CBD have to overcome various hurdles in order to be approved on the market. This also includes limiting the THC content and carefully checking dosage recommendations on the packaging. These legal requirements have led many manufacturers to prefer to declare their products as aromatic oils in order to avoid regulatory measures.

The legal consequences of declaring it as a CBD aroma oil

The declaration as CBD aromatic oil means that no promises of healing or dosage recommendations can be made by the manufacturer. The label “Not suitable for consumption” must also appear on the packaging. Some manufacturers may be tempted to declare their food flavoring products, but this poses new regulatory challenges.

The conclusion: CBD aroma oil is also CBD oil

Regardless of the declaration, high-quality CBD products remain high-quality CBD products, whether they are declared as a dietary supplement or as an aromatic oil. Aroma oil can therefore be taken without any problems. Comprehensive regulation of the cannabis market in Europe could help create clear and contemporary laws that would benefit both producers and consumers.
